On October 29th the Lesotho National Commission for UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture introduced the “UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expression” to their stakeholders.
The participants ranged from line munities, academia, privat institutions, civil society as well as practitioners in the culture and creative industry. The main aim of the meeting was to introduce the UNESCO 2005 Convention. A detailed presentation on the content of the convention also highlighted its correspondence with the stakeholders’ fields of interest. Moreover, funding models for the implementation of the convention were presented to the participants.
This meeting was a first step in establishing a working group, tasked with evaluating the convention’s implementation process which is expected to be in line with the National policy for Arts and Culture.
